They're also the official 3D content licensee for Ford, General Motors, USPS, etc. In 2021, TurboSquid was acquired by Shutterstock.

2. Cgtrader

https://www.cgtrader.com

CGTrader was established in 2011 with the intention of being the first designer-friendly online marketplace for 3D content. It’s one of the largest sources for licensable stock and custom 3D models and offers two solutions for sellers and buyers.

Benefits:

Earn between 70-80% in royalties, which is one of the highest royalty rates in the market.

Immediate access to tips and a knowledge base with an ever-growing design community.

Access to potential clients requiring custom 3D projects.

Insights and reports to help maximize your earning potential.

Payment platforms: There are four methods for royalty and freelance payments. PayPal, Payoneer, Wire transfer, and Webmoney.

What We Like

Large community of 3D artists and businesses.

Easy to get setup and use.

What We Don't Like

Some customer service complaints and slow response times.

Negative reviewing is not well moderated.

3. Renderosity

https://www.renderosity.com/about

Renderosity is a community-driven platform for digital artists. With nearly 800,000 members, the platform caters to both 2D and 3D art.

What We Like

Has been around for a while.

Very large user base.

Great for Daz Studio and Poser 3D modelers.

What We Don't Like

Royalty structure not as favorable as some others.

Traditional 3D model software users have better options.

4. Cubebrush

https://cubebrush.co

Described as an "eCommerce platform for artists, game developers & designers," Cubebrush's aim is to provide ongoing value to its sellers. The platform givers creators freedom and control over the digital items they sell.

Benefits:

Easy-to-use, free platform.

Two revenue stream options to maximize income: (1) When sharing your store URLs directly or via social networks, you make approximately 95% on each sale generated. (2) For sales generated by Cubebrush, you receive 70% of profits from a sale.

A variety of digital projects can be sold, e.g. 3D assets, materials/substances, CG tutorials, 2D game assets, etc

Used by: digital artists, game developers and designers.

Cubebrush is also an interesting Platform and even though it is not the best for generating sales, i think it is one of the rising stars of selling 3D assets online because Unlike the usual marketplace, the content on Cubebrush is curated so everything you find on there is top quality which is great especially for studios and companies that want good quality assets.

When you do all the work and sell directly to your audience through your own store you get to keep 95% of your profits which is a great deal if you manage to get a good stream of sales.

when you make sales on the Cubebrush marketplace you get to keep 70% of profits on those sales.

Payment platforms: PayPal

5.Sketchfab

https://sketchfab.com

Sketchfab has a “paid download” feature for models hosted on their site. Users wanting to sell models and have them featured

in the Sketchfab store, need to apply to become sellers. Read more about becoming a seller in the help section.

Sketchfab is a good platform to show your models as well as to sell them. as a 3D model seller, you get about %70 of your sales. and even though this place is not one of the favorite sites if you want to be profitable as a 3D modeler it offers the most advanced model viewer. you can see all the details of your models like wireframe, UVs on the 3D model as you navigate around it in space, also you can see all the materials on your model like base color, metalness, roughness and so on. This is probably the best place for buyers in terms of getting something very close to what they expect. but for 3D model sellers, sketchfab is still a growing market that will probably be a great place to sell 3D assets in the future.

6. 3dexport

https://3dexport.com

this site is one of the oldest ones in this business but it has one of the most attractive site designs in the industry. even though They were founded way back in 2004 they only have about 220,000 and 600,000 members. on 3DExport you can sell 3D models, for architectural visualization, cinematics, video game, and 3D printing.

on average the Royalty rates that Artists receive on this website is 60 percent for non-exclusive sales, and up to 70 percent with exclusivity contract.

7. Flippednormals

https://flippednormals.com

Fippednormals is relatively a new marketplace for those who want to sell 3D models but it probably has the best website interface and user experience. most models are of high quality and it seems like this marketplace has more potential in the future because some of the best 3D assets sellers on other marketplaces actually sell on it which is a good sign.

on flipped normals, you get %60 of the profits and up to 90% using their referral system.

actually this platform is different because it is also curated to ensure products are of the best quality and they ask you to send your portfolio for the team to assess before you start selling.

8. Unity Asset Store

https://assetstore.unity.com

Unity Asset Store is a marketplace that hosts thousands of affordably priced game assets specifically created for game developers to save time and effort.

this market provides different 3D assets for those who create video games, so if you have some game-ready assets you probably want to put them up for sale here. but regardless of the fact that this is a targeted market, this does not mean you will see greater success compared to the other market places that sell all different kinds of 3D models like architecture visualization and 3D animation models.

9. Unreal Marketplace

https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/store

the unreal marketplace is another place where game developers sell their 3D assets. and actually a lot of individual game artists and game assets outsourcing studios put their individual 3D models and packs on this marketplace.

honestly, if you sell game ready 3D models you have to be on this platform because this is where a good portion of the traffic is in terms of where indie developers and studios buy their 3D models.

but to see any success you need to be qualified for this job because these 3D assets sold here have to work properly inside the game engine otherwise you are going to face a lot of problems down the road and you might not see any success in the first place.

10. Shapeway

https://www.shapeways.com

If it weren't for the emergence of on-demand 3D printing services like Shapeways, this list would actually be significantly shorter.

If you'd like to sell your models as 3D prints, keep in mind that there are additional steps/conversions that must be completed to make a model "print-ready."

Royalty rate — Flexible. Shapeways sets a price based on the volume and material of your print, and you determine how much of a markup you'd like to charge.

11. 3Docean

http://3docean.net

3Docean is part of the enormous Envato network, which comprises the entire Tuts+ empire and boasts more than 1.4 million registered members. Although the 3Docean userbase is most likely a fraction of that, there's also a lot less competition here than somewhere like Turbosquid or The 3D Studio.

Royalty rate — Artist receives 33 percent on non-exclusive sales, 50-70 percent with exclusivity contract.

What We Like

Less crowded marketplace compared to larger sites.

Generally offers decent quality products.

What We Don't Like

Licensing rate is one of the worst in the industry.

Site doesn't get much marketing support from larger Envato network.

12. Sculpteo
https://www.sculpteo.com/en/

Sculpteo is another 3D print vendor based out of France. Although they haven't received as much press in the United States, Sculpteo has

a similar business model to Shapeways, and despite a few disadvantages, it's certainly worth a look.

What We Like

Less crowded marketplace than large sites.

You set the markup on your sales.

What We Don't Like

Fewer material and color choices compared to other services.

Can be more expensive to print than competitors.

Royalty rate — Flexible. Sculpteo sets a price based on the volume and material

of your print, and you determine how much of a markup you'd like to charge.

https://gumroad.com/
