Story Telling
When flipping through a magazine, it is easy to come across
an article that has multiple photographs of the same thing. Usually there is an
implied narrative within the content of the photographs. Sort of like how a
movie uses a story board of still image, or how
A comic book can present a dynamic narrative using just a
few visual motifs.....photographs can be easily used to imply narrative. When
we see photographs presented together, in a series, we often look for
comparisons in the subject matter that might suggest a larger whole.
Your task is to take 10 to 16 images that tell a story of
some kind.
Weirdness is encouraged. Photographs describe and the can
imply, but they don't always tell direct stories. Discovering the narrative
requires timing and observation, much like it would if you were a main
character in the story itself. There is no music or dialogue to tell us what to
feel first.
Think about what still shots in movie represent. Listen to
music and try to come up with a visual.
One Image has to be the ALIEN INVASION and be submitted on
Oct 30… We will start the crit on Monday of Oct 28.
