This exercise is all about experimenting with color an portait, and everything we see about color comes from light. It is created from the light sources that illuminate our space as well the objects the bounce the light back at us. Colors can express a mood that permeates the
image. Do not use the auto setting.
Take a series of portraits of a friend or what you consider a portrait in setting below. You will need to perform this over time so find someone who has good availability. Do not use a flash, so make sure to deactivate it or put some black tape over it if it fires anyway. You are welcome to use reflective.
You will need at least 20 shots or portraits for this assignment. So editing will be important in this assignment. You are accepted taking over 100 images from this assignment. These images should be most artistic and creative approach.
1. Outdoors on a sunny day (dawn or dusk). These should be taken in public place.
Consider…take one shot with the white balance set to auto, and one with one of the other preset white balance options
2. Indoors, with the subject standing by a window lit from one side, room lights off Consider…take one shot using the cloudy preset and another using the incadescent white balance setting
3. Subject sitting or at a desk, lit by a tungsten desk lamp or similar light source.
Consider…Produce two or more photographs, using the incandescent and sunny white balance settings -
Subject sitting a desk, lit by a candle (be careful)
Produce two or more
4. Subject lit by a non traditional (up too you) light source. -2 more or more shots
Using your own knowledge, take one shot with what you think is the "correct" white balance, then take another using the daylight (or cloudy) rating. A non traditional light source is something that creates light but you wouldn't normally identify as a "light". (ex. TV, iphone, car, refrigerator)
5. Challenge. Take a photo in a place where you can tell a human has been. Alien is optional.
